From Charm Pile to Tiny Companion: Making Pocket Pals
Every Pocket Pal begins with a main character and a table full of possible tiny treasures.
Once I choose the character, I start building around them with beads, flowers, snacks, mushrooms, words + anything else that fits their particular energy.
The phrases are one of my favorite parts. A few alphabet beads can turn a cute charm into a SUGAR BABY, a BAD BOY or a completely different little personality.
I arrange everything before attaching it permanently. Color matters, but so do shape, movement + weight. The finished piece needs to feel full and maximalist while still being comfortable enough to live on a handbag, keys or belt loop.
Each Pocket Pal is made one at a time from whatever pieces are available on my worktable. I might use a similar character or color again, but I do not recreate the exact same arrangement.
That means every finished charm becomes its own little combination of characters, words + treasures.
Some are sweet. Some are strange. Some have a tiny bit of an attitude.
They are all ready to become somebody’s everyday adventure buddy.
